I want to ride a bicycle, I want to ride it now…
The first sunny day in Vancouver in weeks and all bike lanes were riddled with people. Stanley Park, English Bay, and Kitsilano Beach are only a few places that are popular to go by bike. By walking through Downtown Vancouver I had noticed that it is a very bike friendly city. Coming from Europe where biking is like second nature, I was comforted in the fact that Vancouver has embraced this life style of people commuting to work, going to the store, or just out for a leisure ride. Biking would be a great alternative from spending money on bus tickets to go to work at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Downtown Vancouver every morning, and the new bike lanes would make this a safe way of transportation, not to mention the health benefits.
The decision was made: But, where can I get a bike?
After discovering that craigslist wasn’t that filled with used dependable bikes (ones that I wouldn’t be terrified riding on) I went to one of the many bikes shops in Vancouver and got a great deal for a bike with lights and a helmet. Now my daily commute to work is not only cheaper than taking the bus, but also much healthier. It is also a wonderful way to explore this city! I can’t wait until the weekend where I will go for a ride long the seawall. To experience this amazing ride yourself, plan a weekend at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Downtown Vancouver and rent one of our bikes for 3 hours complementary, and enjoy the Greater Downtown Vancouver area in a fun and healthy way.
